Forest Green
im painting a room forest green what kind do i tint my primer?
the walls now are orange im about to prime it but im not sure if i should just apply it white or if i should tint it. and if tinting it is necessary then how would i tint it myself?
If you haven't bought the primer yet ,,,the store will tint it for you , free. Tint it towards green. You wont get it dark like a forest green , but it will help with coverage when you finally paint. If you have the primer and you just bought it ,,take it back to the store you bought it at and let them know that you decided on forest green , and would they tint the primer towards that color. They will usually do it for nothing. If you don't want to do that ,,,you can buy a tinting tube of paint at most hardware and add it to the primer. Again you don't need alot.Don't get the primer to dark , just towards Green. And if your primer is a latex or water based primer be sure to use water based paint to tint it. and visa versa for oil or alkali paint.
