Camera Hot

Can i use hot glue to fix a piece of my camera?
I recently discovered that the outer lining of my camera lense broke off, even though i havent used it for two weeks. I'm looking for a way to get it back on so far i have only used tape but it doesent work. Can i use hot glue? Super glue? (Even nail glue if thats okay)?
Super glue gives off fumes when it's drying. Those fumes can (might not, but can) condense onto the glass elements of your lens if they can worm their way in. I would avoid solvent based glues, too.
I think the safest glue to use would be a hot-melt as they're fairly benign and don't fume when drying. Of course, they're messy as hell and that could have lead to other problems.
A two-pack epoxy resin would also be good - get a '5 minute' one and you've got some time to position elements before it cures.
